Childcare is an industry that requires full commitment from those who choose to embark on that journey. Having started that journey, myself 8 years ago as a practitioner, I made my goal to fully dedicate my time to raising confident, independent children, who think of themselves as capable and are granted with the tools they will need to create the best future for themselves. Despite the many obstacles one can face whilst on that journey, it is important to remain focused and continuously work towards the improvement of the settings that make that provision.
My path is one that I have truly embraced and learned from. There is no better accomplishment that being part of a little one’s journey. Being on the floor amongst the children, we get to truly see each child’s interests; how they learn, how they navigate their own world and find out how to best support them in the process. Seeing them develop and flourish is nothing short of amazing and having contributed to someone’s life, like the one whose child became my Godson, I consider it to be one of my biggest accomplishments.
To make it all happen, there’s a team of people who work tirelessly: apprentices, practitioners, room leaders, managers and directors. All pulling their own weight to keep bringing the very best to the children under their care. As I have walked through each stage and worked my way up the ladder, I now find myself in a position that even though I always aimed to achieve, I also contemplated accepting. Being a manager means spending more time sitting behind a desk and much less time in the room with the children, which is where my passion truly lies. But I decided not to let that become a deterrent to my progress and use it to make childcare better instead, except that now I get to do it in from another standpoint and from a different angle.
None of it will be possible, however, without a good foundation. Without a setting that upholds the best values and standard for its children, a setting that provides unique experiences and most of all, one that wants every child to achieve their full potential. CurioCity Childcare is just that. Here, my inspiration grew no limits, and I was able to put into practice all that I have learned at each setting along the years. I was offered the opportunity to grow in my career, expand my knowledge and develop and learn new skills. And for that, I will forever be grateful. Who knows what the future holds, what challenges and victories are still to come. But of one thing I am certain, I will keep striving to see every setting become its very best and every child, nurtured.
